On October 9, 2017, we lost our family home in the Atlas Peak Wildfire.
What began as an ordinary Sunday evening in the Napa Valley became one of the most catastrophic nights in California's wildfire history. The Atlas Fire—one of fourteen fires burning simultaneously across Northern California—swept through more than 51,000 acres of Napa and Solano counties, destroying over 740 homes, wineries, and other structures. Hundreds of families fled with little or no warning, their escapes complicated by the loss of all power and cellular service across the region.
Our family was among them.
